Florida Dairy Farmer’s Association announces Player & Coach of the Year Awards for classification (1st Coast Area Only)

The eight individual class finalists for the 2011 Florida Dairy Farmers Mr. Football and Coach of the Year have been announced following balloting by a statewide panel of high school football coaches and prep media representatives.
Every finalist was the leading vote-getter in their classification, making each one the Player of the Year or Coach of the Year in their class. The two winners will be announced following a final round of balloting by coaches and media.
Nathan Peterman, St. John’s Bartram Trail, Sr., Quarterback, Class 6A Player of the Year
Peterman completed 199-of-315 passes (63.2 %) for 2,972 yards and 35 TDs with 10 INTs and rushed for 319 yards and five TDs on 73 carries in leading his team to the state 6A semifinals and a 12-2 record
Derrick Henry, Yulee, Jr., Running Back, Class 4A Player of the Year
Henry rushed 309 times for 2,567 yards and 34 TDs, breaking Ciatrick Fason’s (Fletcher) Northeast Florida single-season yardage record; has rushed for more than 2,000 yards each of the last three seasons.
Marty Lee, Jacksonville First Coast, Class 7A Coach of the Year
Lee, who is in his 14th year and has a 127-48 career mark, led the Buccaneers to their best season in history (13-0) and first state title game after taking down traditional power Lakeland in the semifinals. First Coast is attempting to become the first Duval County public school to win a state title since Raines in 1997 (4A).
